I love art and color and making things and knitting and, finally, figured out a way to combine all of these passions!
Propanicus Moon Yarns became a reality in the spring of 2012 and I haven’t looked back. I work hard to bring you fine yarns hand dyed in a wide range of colors, from thin to thick, from subtle to vibrant and even sparkly! My dearest wish is that you enjoy knitting with these beautiful yarns as much as I enjoy making them for you.
So, where did this goofy name come from any way?
Long ago a young family lived in a tiny hamlet nestled in between two Great Lakes. The winters were trying as they worked hard to buy enough propane to keep them warm. One day the gauge on the propane tank showed enough gas for one more day, the weather was forecasting temperatures below zero (yes, that’s Fahrenheit) while the bank showed the next deposit to be three weeks away. The family carried on knowing they would think of something before it was too late. Still warm fifteen days later, the deposit arrived early and the propane was delivered that same day! Now, every year in the dead of winter, the family celebrates the miracle of their propane tank with a feast for their friends and family. Heat is the order of the day: hot house, hot food, hot drinks, gifts of warmth. Propanicus is a time of celebration.
